First, what is a conversion?

Second, what is a conversion funnel?

I immediately checked to see if they have a content management system (CMS), which enables them to edit / content to add to their website. The next thing I will check on the actual website is how their existing page titles and meta descriptions look? Second, not their pages contain beautiful headlines? Thirdly, they are using call-to-action? Finally, they have contact / lead generation forms?

1. Check your page title tags and meta descriptions
Each page of your website should contain a keyword rich title tag and meta description. What are those things? These items are often the first impression your potential visitors to your business in organic search (think of the top of the funnel). This means that it is important to use words in these areas in order to let them by clicking. More on that later. Did you ever wish you had a way to grab something off another website? Title tags and meta descriptions to interpret the content of your pages to the search engines and visitors so they know what they’re about. To make your own, focus on optimizing these three things:

1) Make every title tag and meta description Each unique title tag and meta description should be different than other tags on your site, with special emphasis on the first words. Place your keywords first and sends here. For example, if you optimize your page for proceeds delivery service in Raleigh, your title tag can be:

Raleigh Produce Delivery Service | Company Name Produce Delivery

Your meta description of the page could be:

Need to produce a quality service to be provided in Raleigh? Contact us today.

2) Keep them short Your title tags are really the place to be brief and concise. ** A good rule of thumb is about 70 characters (including spaces), so be attentive to come up with a title that represents your page. Meta descriptions should be about 120-150 characters or less.

3) Forget your visitors the effort you have made in the # 1 & # 2 will appear on your page in the search engine results page (SERP), but remember, now you have to rely on a real person and get them to by clicking the result on your page. Use action verbs such as “Meet our farmers and Produce deliverers” and use your company name to boost confidence.

Here is a good example of a well-optimized title tag and meta description appears in the search engine results page with point-of-view:

Online videoAs you can see, the keywords online video and e-mail marketing are at the front of both the title tag (blue link) and the meta description (text beneath the green URL). 2) And test your headlines
Headlines are the next part of the journey along the conversion funnel. They are what first read your visitors once they land on your pages from SERP. You only have a few seconds to pique their interest, so make sure you have some time to spend thinking about what you’re gonna say. Remember the 50/50 rule Headlines: you have to spend half the entire time it takes to write a piece of persuasive content on the head.

Think about what you are trying to tell your readers. What do they want to hear about? What’s trending in your industry right now? How can you lure them in to read the rest of your content and get them to perform the desired action? The key is to provide the reader with a reward for reading copy your body. Copywriting trainers at American Writers & Artists teach The Four U’s approach to writing headlines:

Headlines, subheads and bullets should:

1) are useful to the reader.

2) Provide them with a sense of urgency.

3) Convey the idea that the most important advantage is a unique way or the other.

4) Do all of the above in an ultra-specific manner.

Your head should also be key to the body content relevant, so be sure to include them. Let’s say I’m the owner of a coffee shop and I an article about a new exclusive coffee I’ve been writing: Rarebean # 5. My goal is to register people to an event where they can come and try the fill out a simple registration form. My headlines would look something like this:

Direct Headline – “Rarebean # 5 Tasting Event – registering”

Indirect Headline – “you’ve been waiting All Year For This”

News Headline – “The introduction of Rarebean # 5 Tasting Event”

Headline question – “Are you ready to experience the wonders of Rarebean # 5?”

Command Headline – “Register today to try Rarebean # 5”

Why Headline – “10 Reasons Why You Should Taste Rarebean # 5″

Testimonial Headline (if you can) – ” ‘You Need To Taste Rarebean # 5″ says Alton Brown ”

It is clear, you do not want to do, it broke a cup that is off-topic or interest / intrigue the reader. I’m sure you agree that this cup would not be good for this particular article “Cool coffee”

Make sure you action verbs, keywords, and use questions to follow the 4 U’s. Let’s say you just read a review of a book about a fictional online bookstore. Now imagine these two CTAs:

That CTA is not very tempting. It does you no incentive to click to display the link or button. Additionally, this text is used in almost every website out there. Nothing distinguishes this website and CTA from all others.

The Call to Action emphasizes action. It tells you, “you checked out the book, you read the reviews … GO NOW and get it!” It grabs your attention.

There are many different companies, and I can not find better alternatives for every call to action, but here are a few examples to help you start thinking about how to improve your current CTAs:

Sign changes in your free account Get – one just asks for a sign, the other tells you what you get.

Click change to Want Free Music? – The first CTA does not understand why you would want to click. The second CTA creates a desire.

buy now to download changes for $ 19.95 – The first CTA sounds like the start of a normal payment process. The second gives you the exact price and the action will provide the CTA.

Watch Video changes to Take The 2 Minute Tour – How long is the video? What will I learn? – The first CTA does not give you information, the second not only tells you what the video is about, it also says how much time commitment you will have.

These are just a few examples. In the treatment of thinking your own website about what you are trying to get your visitor and what might be tempted to them. Once you have some ideas to replace your worn out calls to action with your new. This will make your visitors further push the conversion funnel.

4) Implement easy to submit forms
Now that you’ve sold your visitor and they are ready to take action (convert) they have a form on your website. Make sure you give them that opportunity! To optimize your Forms conversion, the following tips:

Tip 1: Only add a field when you absolutely, positively need that information. The longer the form, the less likely someone will fill it. Not just ask for an address (or any other item for that matter). Ask the bare minimum: only the bare necessities. Think about your visitor. If they can not figure out why you need something, you probably should not ask.

Tip 2: Get your form at the top of the page. I have so many cases, of a shape which at the bottom of the page (what we call “below the fold” call) was observed. This means that you can not even see the shape when the page is first loaded. The form is the key action item on your website. Get it in a prominent place. Make sure the visible second a visitor lands on that page.

Tip 3: Avoid CAPTCHAs if possible. A CAPTCHA is a challenge-response question that you often see on forms.

The reason to use a CAPTCHA to keep bots and spammers from filling out your form. However, a CAPTCHA makes it harder for real people to fill out form. Unless you had a problem with a lot of spam in your forms, let the CAPTCHA-out.

Tip 4: Make sure it’s clear why you collect an email address. If you email gather you to add a newsletter, make sure the visitor understands them choose it. The best way is to not only collect the e-mail, but put a check box next to your opt-in statement. (For example, put this statement under the e-mail field and add a check-box “I would like to once monthly newsletter). You also need a link to your privacy policy if you have one. This increases your confidence can build with the visitor and let them know what you are (and will do) with their information.

Also consider using an email provider such as Mailchimp.com and iContact to make it easy for your subscribers to manage their subscription and unsubscribe.

Tip 5: Use call-to-action in your buttons. Everyone uses “Submit.” Try something more compelling. Joint action terms that really works “Start Today”, “Let’s Go” and “Get Started”. You can also consider the use of terms that are specific to your industry. For example, you can try using “Start your engines” if you sell auto parts. Make it fun. The more interesting your call-to-action (including your form) the more likely you are to turn your visitor into a customer.
